In the world of preserving our streets and highways, there are many options available. Surface Treatments have long been the most economical methods used for maintaining and preserving road surfaces. Surface Treatments are the application of liquid asphalt emulsions and cover aggregate applied as a wearing course.

FiberMat® is the ultimate crack inhibiting and sealing membrane; a combination of polymer-modified asphalt emulsion, chopped glass fiber strands and aggregate. This combination creates a robust membrane that absorbs stresses generated in the pavement structure resulting in a flexible, waterproofing barrier.
Process
Asphalt emulsion is applied to the road surface using a computerized distributor followed by the application of sized aggregate. The emulsion and aggregate are applied at a predetermined rate. Finally, a rubber-tire roller is used to set the aggregate into the asphalt emulsion.
Generally, conventional chip seals are considered when normal maintenance is required to improve and extend the life cycle of the road. Chip seals can also be used for new construction.

FastTack® is a specially designed spray applied tack coat interlayer that not only breaks in minutes but greatly increases the adhesion of the pavement layers. It is particularly useful when cold or damp weather conditions delay the breaking process of tackcoat. FastTack® breaks in as little as five minutes and can be applied anytime tackcoat or fogseal is required.
FastTack® also provides waterproofing properties to safeguard the substrate and base layers while ensuring excellent adhesion of the overlay to existing pavements. FastTack® is applied with a typical asphalt distributor that has been modified with additional spray bars to apply the breaking and adhesion agents.

Liquid chlorides (Magnesium and/or Calcium) are a very effective type of dust control/dust suppressant agent. They retain moisture for prolonged periods of time. This property helps to hold dust and stabilize unpaved road surfaces.
